Who has been the biggest influence on your writing? How so?

Wow, that’s a tough question! I could attribute a lot of my writing to my aunt’s neighbor. No, not like that. She was a sweet old lady who had a bunch of bad habits her family knew nothing about until she died. When they went through her things, they discovered she smoked and had a romance book reading habit. LOL. I was 13 and I remember getting these boxes full of romance novels. From that day onward, I was hooked on them. They were the simple, sweet Harlequin serials with closed door sex. Then by the time I was 17, I was reading hotter stuff where there was actual juices flowing and oral sex and things that made me blush while reading them, but I was addicted.

It wasn’t until a few years later that I started reading the harder, hotter stuff, but by then I was already trying my hand at writing. Like my Harlequin books, my stories were somewhat hot. I went into detail, but not nearly as much as I do now. I’ve evolved as an erotic romance writer. Or as my uncle calls it, “Writing that porno.” LOL But writing “porno” is fun!

If you were going to slash two (or more) of your favorite characters from any book, film, or TV show, who would it be, why, and what’s their favorite position?

Hmmm. I’d probably take Riddick from Pitch Black (‘cause you can’t go wrong with Vin Diesel, right?), King Leonidas from 300 (um, yeah…Gerard Butler with that beard and those fierce, animalistic moods) and make a Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill sandwich. Why? Because those are two touch mofos and she’s probably the only woman who could handle them. Except for me of course. At the same time. Because yeah…*stares into space*

Um, their favorite position would be the Eiffel Tower. One in front, one in back and going at it hard and fast with lots of sweat and swearing and… Pardon me, I do believe I need to fan myself for a few minutes.

Pitch yourself to shiny, new readers in thirty words or less:

I write erotic romance with a touch of Cajun spice. I like kickass heroines and even stronger heroes.

Tell me about your groupies–what have been your favorite fan moments?

Well, anytime I get fan emails, I squee like a preteen at a Justin Bieber concert. I can’t help myself. I’m still in that phase where I can’t believe people actually read my books. Sure, I’ve been writing for over 4 years now, with 17 books out, but I still hold this belief that people buy my books and either stare at them or ignore them. Never actually read them. LOL

The other moment I had was at a conference when another author came up to me to say, “Hey Danica, you have a fan here.” Luckily I was at the bar already hitting up my Jack and Coke because I must’ve got this deer in the headlights look and gasped, “Where?! Why? I don’t have fans!” LOL I did meet my fan and she was awesome. It’s perhaps the coolest thing ever to meet people who truly enjoy my work. I guess it’s kind of the way I feel when I go to a signing and see Kresley Cole there. I turn into a total fangirl.

Every author has pitfalls in their writing process. Describe one of yours, and what you do to dig out of it.

Oh boy, do we have room for a dissertation? LOL I tend to get stuck on the small details. Mostly like titles and character names. Maybe it’s my writer’s OCD kicking in, but I can’t even start a story until I have that title and those characters have the perfect names. I get out of that by writing titles down when they come to me and saving them in a spreadsheet so I can use them later. As for the character name part, I spend a lot of time on Behind the Name searching for the perfect names.

My mother always joked about her special place in Hell—just punishments for guilty pleasures. What guilty pleasures will send you to your special place in Hell?

Er, well. *shifty eyes* First off, I’m a single girl. Secondly, I love to look at men. Love it. I used to host different male models and dancers on my blog, interviewing them for my readers, but now I’ve slacked off that and taken a bigger interest in just looking at them, LOL.

And because I like to look, I may have a Tumblr account. I don’t post anything on it. I mostly log on to stare in awe at the mighty massive cocks one of the people I follow posts. It’s for research. I swear. Okay, I might just look for the hell of it, but why wouldn’t I? Some of those men… Yowsa! Or rather, “Ouch!” LOL

In 100 words, write a paragraph including a favorite character from one (or more) of your books, a sex toy, and a very happy ending.

Grasping her hip in one hand, he guided the toy to her entrance. Trust Isola to buy the biggest toy she could find. The damn thing was only a couple of inches smaller than he was, and nearly as thick. He supposed that was a good thing because at least using it on her would prepare her body for him when they finally consummated this raging chemistry between them.

Grant knew his smile wasn’t nice, but he couldn’t hold it back. Isola was in his power and panting for what he would give her. Even so, she squirmed in his hold, but Grant didn’t falter, sliding that thick, vibrating cock into her.

About tDanica

Danica Avet was born and raised in the wilds of South Louisiana (that would be somewhere around Houma) where mosquitoes are big enough to carry off small children and there are only two seasons: hot and hotter. With a BA in History, she figured there were enough fry cooks in the world and decided to try her hand at writing.

Danica is the lucky pet of a compulsively needy dog and two cats. The pitter-patter of little feet has been known to make her break out into a cold sweat.

Writing is how she gives the voices in her head a way out. When she isn’t writing, working or contemplating the complexities of the universe, she spends time gathering inspiration from her insane family, reads far more than any sane person would want to, and watches hot burly men chase an oblong ball all over a field.
