I don’t often read books that stay with me long past the last page, but when I do I like to share them with others. Some are erotic in nature, some unintentionally naturally erotic. Across genre, these are my absolute favorite recommended reads:
Wraeththu by Storm Constantine, Omnibus of the groundbreaking dystopian trilogy:
- The Enchantment of Flesh and Spirit
- The Bewitchments of Love and Hate
- The Fulfilments of Fate and Desire
Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin, the absolute best feminine writer of erotica and provocatrix of all that is taboo.
The Cottage in the Woods by Lucy Felthouse, what shifter romance is supposed to be.
The Dream Jumper’s Promise by Kim Hornsby, model magickal realism.
The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas by Gertrude Stein, the best word-crafter, ever, as far as I’m concerned
Caught Looking by Rachel Kramer Bussel, the consummate bad girl next door.
The Splinter by by Remittance Girl, a carefully crafted study in the sexual nature of sacred pain.
The Book of Obeah by Sandra Carrington-Smith, a modern mystery with deep historic roots.
Best Women’s Erotica 2009 featuring Valeria Alexander’s “Fly,” what I want every fairietale to be.
Sprout by Dale Peck, impeccable YA GLBT realism.
Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts, dark love never shined so brightly–and that includes all the shades.
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, world-bending for the romantic mind.
Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite, perversion at its most glorious.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, contains the most arresting line I’ve ever read in my life.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, urban fantasy for everyone who’s ever fallen between the cracks of reality, only to realize what’s really real.
My Wicked Valentine by Ann Mayburn, Mistress of the best pain you’ll ever crave.
