Yay! Lisa Carlisle is with me today, discussing writing,
Who has been the biggest influence on your writing? How so?
My husband, without a doubt. Not only is he my greatest supporter, but he provides inspiration for some of the admirable characteristics of my heroes.
Pitch yourself to shiny, new readers in thirty words or less:
Lisa Carlisle writes hot, paranormal romance with dark brooding heroes and independent heroines.
Tell me about your groupies–what have been your favorite fan moments?
Recently, I attended Romanticon, Ellora’s Cave’s fun convention. Having readers tell me they loved my books in person was such a thrill. You spend so much time alone as a writer and to connect with readers who like your work is phenomenal. I can’t wait to return.
Every author has pitfalls in their writing process. Describe one of yours, and what you do to dig out of it.
I start most of my books in third person POV and as I get to know the character, switch over to first person without realizing it. Then I need to make a decision which POV to stick with and go back and make changes. It drives me crazy!
My mother always joked about her special place in Hell—just punishments for guilty pleasures. What guilty pleasures will send you to your special place in Hell?
Drinking wine or something stronger while I eat chocolate and read naughty Ellora’s Cave books.

In 100 words, write a paragraph including a favorite character from one (or more) of your books, a sex toy, and a very happy ending.
Danton was in his stone form, but Tracy knew he could see her. She positioned herself in front of him, ensuring he had a good vantage point, and turned on her favorite vibrator. She verbalized her fantasies so he knew exactly what she was thinking about doing with him while she pleasured herself. As she reached her climax, she saw the gray stone softening as it transformed to bronze flesh. She winked at him, knowing she wouldn’t have to wait much longer to live out her fantasies with a man as hard as stone.

About Gargoyle’s Embrace
Fifth in the Underground Encounters series.
Tracy isn’t sure why she’s drawn to a particular gargoyle statue in the Goth club where she works. After the stone takes human form to protect her from her abusive ex, she brings the handsome, naked male to her apartment. It’s impossible to ignore the seductive appeal of a man sculpted like a Viking warrior.
Danton has only hours in human form to spend with the woman he has hungered for. He’s convinced what’s between them is more than hot sex, but he needs to convince Tracy of that before he turns back to stone.
A Romantica® paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave
Lisa gravitates toward stories with dark, brooding, isolated characters (think Heathcliff, Dracula, Darth Vader and Severus Snape) and tough, independent, caring heroines. She’s wanted to write since the sixth grade and is thrilled to now be a multi-published, award-winning author.
She spent a short time in the Marine Corps, living in Parris Island, the California desert, and Okinawa, Japan. She then backpacked alone around the US and Europe and lived in Paris, France, before returning to the U.S. to buy a bookstore. Now she lives in New England with her husband and children and draws on these experiences in her stories. Find her on:
